MESSAGE TO PUBLIC OFFICERS

BY THE HONOURABLE MINISTER OF PUBLIC SERVICE, ADMINISTRATIVE AND INSTITUTIONAL REFORMS

Dear Colleagues and Team Members,

I am extremely honoured and privileged to address you these few words on my appointment as Minister of Public, Service, Administrative and Institutional Reforms.

I am grateful to the Prime Minister, Honourable Pravind Kumar JUGNAUTH, for the trust he has placed in me to offer me the key portfolio of the Public Service, the bedrock of social and economic development of our country.

As soon as I assumed office on 31 August 2023, I have been exposed to the gamut of services offered by my Ministry not only to Public Officers but also to Parastatal Organisations and Local Authorities. This has confirmed my belief that the Public Sector has always played an instrumental role in the socio-economic development of our country.

Allow me, therefore, to seize this occasion to express my profound gratitude to you for your efforts and dedication in shaping a prosperous, inclusive and united nation.
At the level of my Ministry, I am impressed by the numerous projects and initiatives undertaken and geared towards shaping an agile, responsive and resilient Public Service.

Rest assured that I shall pursue with resolve and determination the rich legacy passed on to me while bringing forward my own ideas for achieving a common objective.

Indeed, I shall endeavour to gear up the pace of transformation in the Public Sector by taking advantage of the potential of emerging and disruptive technologies in offering citizen-centric services. Ensuring a Public Service that adheres to the highest standards of Good Governance and Accountability in compliance to statutory provisions as well as preparing the Public Service and our Public Officers against the vagaries of an increasingly challenging internal and external environment are high on my agenda.

Moreover, I shall soon engage and meet with all Trade Unions and Trade Union Federations of the Public Sector with a view to ensuring sound and harmonious industrial relations.

Last but not the least, as Minister as well as a Medical Physician, I have at heart the welfare, wellbeing and the health of all our Public Officers. I shall, therefore, endeavour to ensure that they are able to serve in a conducive and healthy environment and that they have the opportunity to undergo regular medical examinations.

I look forward to your unflinching support and wish you the very best.

Dr the Hon Anjiv Ramdhany
Minister of Public Service, Administrative and Institutional Reforms
